FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT
This is the final announcement for the TES Data User's Workshop on November 13-15. It contains logistical information for attending the workshop. This information and a campus map are available on the website http://tes.asu.edu/TESworkshop. THE ABSTRACT DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO OCTOBER 5. The abstract template is available on the website and completed template files should be sent as an email attachment to ruff@tes.asu.edu. The final program will be posted by October 8.
AIRPORT and GROUND TRANSPORTATION
Phoenix Sky Harbor airport is approximately 5 miles from the ASU campus. The two hotels at which we have a block of rooms offer free airport shuttles.
Because the hotels offer airport shuttle service and are within walking distance of the workshop site, a rental car is not necessary. Many restaurants are also within easy walking distance of ASU and the hotels. Should you wish to rent a car, Phoenix Sky Harbor airport hosts all the major rental car companies.
HOTELS
Twin Palms Hotel - located on Apache boulevard just south of Forrest Ave. is approximately two blocks from the workshop site. Cost is $72/night (specify TES Workshop). Holiday Inn - located at the SE corner of Apache Blvd. and Rural Road is approximately 1/4 of a mile from the workshop site. Cost is $79/night (specify TES Workshop). WORKSHOP SITE
The workshop will be held in the Moeur Building at the NE corner of Forrest Avenue and Gammage Parkway on the ASU campus. See the map at http://www.asu.edu/map for directions.
FIELD TRIP
Those who have registered for the field trip will be transported to and from the field site via ASU vans. The terrain is rugged and cactus are abundant. Light hiking boots and long pants are strongly recommended. Daytime temperatures can be mild to warm in November (60 - 80F; 16 - 27C), so layering long-sleeved shirts or light jackets over short-sleeved shirts will provide you the most options for comfort. A light lunch and beverages will be provided. A large (1 liter) personal water bottle is recommended, and you may wish to bring a small backpack or fanny pack for your water, sunscreen (important even in winter), and personal snacks.
